Fleet Street’s top beer garden picks

The sun is finally shining and the Fleet Street team are ready to celebrate summer in style at our favourite pub gardens and rooftop bars across the UK. As hospitality specialists we’re a pretty discerning bunch and here’s a round up of our personal favourites – and no, they are not all in London…

Punchbowl Inn, Lake District

Recommend by: Cathy Murray, associate director

“Favourite pub garden has to be at the Punchbowl Inn in the Lake District where I got married in 2013. It has stunning views over the Lyth Valley, fantastic food, and a great wine list. Visited so many times and never get tired of it.”

London Bridge Rooftop Bar, London Bridge

Recommended by: Hallie Davey, senior account executive

“Who doesn’t want stunning views over London while they sip quality cocktails? This place has great atmosphere, is free to enter (just make sure you book), and the staff even give out fluffy blankets when it gets chilly in the evenings.”

Botley Hill Farmhouse in Warlingham

Recommended by: Chloe Downes, account manager

“The pub is a sweet country inn and a great spot for a pint after a walk in the North Downs. The garden offers panoramic views of the countryside from the top of the hill. In spring, the neighbouring farm also has hundreds of lambs for some added cuteness.”

The White Cross, Richmond

Recommend by: Jordan Wood, senior account manager

“I’ll go for The White Cross in Richmond – great pub! Not exactly a pub garden, but it fronts onto the Thames and in the summer, people spill out the front and it’s got a really great vibe.”

Faltering Fullback, Finsbury Park

Recommended by: Charlotte Cavanagh, senior account manager

“Not only do they serve a fantastic pint of Guinness and serve delicious Thai dishes, but the pub is massive with a four-tier beer garden. You could get lost in this beer garden – it’s like a maze, with lots of small intimate corners, as well as bench seating for larger groups. Bookings are difficult to come by though, so best get in there quickly.”

Clapham Tap, London

Recommended by: Mick Steward, account director

“The best pub garden in London is the Clapham Tap.”

The King’s Arms in Wandsworth

Recommended by: Josie Cooper, account executive

“It’s got great food, lovely staff and a fun atmosphere. They also have DJs playing on bank holiday Sundays. The garden is a hidden gem offering tables in the sun, under the trees or my personal favourite, under wooden huts providing your group of mates a little more privacy.”

The Newbold Comyn Arms, Leamington

Recommend by: Ed Whitehead, director of corporate and reputation

“This pub is the holy grail for parents in Warwickshire. A beautiful setting, delicious keg and cask beers, tasty food, a gigantic beer garden, and a cracking playground. Fun for all the family.”

Spaniard’s Inn, Hampstead

Recommended by: Jess Maciazek, senior account manager

“This famous pub is an experience in itself to get to, but it’s definitely the best spot by the Heath for great food, a spot of sun and a round (or two) of drinks. Fun fact – Harry Styles ‘may or may not’ still live next door.”

The Hawk’s Nest, Shepherds Bush

Recommended by: Lucy Gould, junior account executive

“Why I love it? The deals are very good, you can get a woodfired pizza and a margarita (the cocktail) for just £12.50 Monday-Friday pre 7pm. It has great music, good atmosphere, and is a fantastic sun trap on a sunny evening!
