We recently took a trip to Meantime Brewing Company, an award-winning brewery based in Greenwich, where the team enjoyed a tutored tasting of a selection of beers followed by a comprehensive tour of the brewery.
Five beers were available to sample, each delivering something different to the palate. Mixed opinions meant there was no clear winner, some preferring the bitterness of the ale while others enjoyed lighter lagers. The team’s sampling highlights included London Lager (an easily drinkable lager in the Pilsner style) Fool’s Gold (Meantime’s seasonal lager beer, including many lots of hops) and London Stout (Dark Beer, with dark chocolate and coffee tasting notes, a real rarity within the market).
We were interested to learn that Meantime launches six seasonal beers every year to reflect the weather at the time. Each limited edition brew offers a different taste and flavour to provide a wider choice to consumers. Fool’s Gold was launched most recently and is inspired by German’s Kölsch style of beer – it’s the “ale-drinkers lager”.
It was an extremely enjoyable evening and the team is already looking forward to sampling the next seasonal brew!
