Work from home; but make it PR

Work from home; but make it PR

In these unprecedented times of ‘rona induced isolation, most of us have now had to make the transition from office life, to working from home. A transition that at the best of times isn’t easy; let alone in the midst of a national pandemic!

To help those that may be struggling with the altered surroundings, and what could be the ‘new normal’, we’ve put together some advice on how to stay productive and, just as importantly, keep up morale.

Working in bed? Comfy but deadly

It’s more important than ever to make sure that your day is structured and that there’s a clear separation between work and personal space. Set up a work station in your home and make sure that’s where any and all work takes place. If you work all over the house, then you won’t have anywhere that feels work-free – we all need a safe space to give ourselves a break!

Routine! Routine! Routine!

Sticking to a routine will help to organise and normalise your new workday. Getting up at a normal working hour, and getting dressed, will set you up for the day, and taking a scheduled lunch hour each day will provide a much-needed break.

Move your bod

To avoid those aches and pains from sitting all day, it’s also important to incorporate some exercise into your daily routine. All of a sudden, life has become much more sedentary, and if you’re anything like me, it was already slow-paced before! Try to set aside a block of time each day to get outside for some fresh air and steps (within the self-distancing rules of course). If you are stuck at home self-isolating there is plenty of exercise content out there on YouTube and Instagram – so there are literally no excuses.

Boost that team morale

It’s more important than ever to be maintaining a sense of team spirit whilst everyone is working remotely. At FSC we’ve implemented a number of ways to keep up morale including:

  • Friday afternoon Zoom cocktail competitions
  • Guess the feet quiz (don’t ask)
  • Who’s who baby pictures
  • Step counting competition
  • Quizzes
  • Constant comms on our WhatsApp group – sharing memes and other top quality COVID-19 content

These are just a few ways to make the best of the situation we all find ourselves in. We’d also love to hear of any tips on working from home that have worked for you! And we are always available for a Zoom drink – post working hours of course… gotta keep that routine.
